Advanced Driver and Rider Course

The training consists of tailored tuition during  "on the road observed runs" with one of our volunteer  Observers. The runs are held using the Associate's own car or motorcycle. An introductory day is sometimes held in the weeks before the course starts for would-be Associates to come along and meet Members of the group and even have an assessment of the driving/riding ability. Normally, the introductory day is held at the Locos Social Club, Inverurie.

The IAM RoadSmart (IAMRS) Advanced Courses are recognised by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and conducted by Groups of Advanced Motorists, affiliated to IAMRS, throughout the UK. There are some 180 Groups around the UK and each is a charitable organisation in its own right. This means that training for the Advanced Test is readily available for anyone who wishes to improve his or her driving or riding skills.
Training Sessions
As driving and riding are practical activities, you could not improve your road craft skills without going on the road! Our qualified Observers will meet you at a convenient time and place, and give you guidance and support on the road, helping you to apply the knowledge and theory you have obtained from the Advanced Driver/Rider Course Logbook. with instruction tailored according to your needs. Assessment runs can be undertaken by appointment if desired before beginning the training. Assessment and Observed Runs take place using the Associate's own car or bike which MUST be insured, Taxed and have a valid MOT if necessary. The Associate MUST also possess a valid driving licence for the vehicle being driven or ridden.

The Associate will be required to sign a Documents Declaration form confirming the above before the start of any practical training.
